AGM 2010

The 2010 AGM was held at our old school (GGSK College, Roding Lane) on 9th February.

As usual, several Old Bucks took the opportunity to visit the school, and we were pleased to see Jim Selby (1948), David Dempsey (1948) and Dick Dempsey (1961) who had not been back to the school since they left.

Back row: Peter Murch (1962), Chris Moody (1962), David Smith (1962)
Front row: Dick Dempsey (1961), David Dempsey (1948)

At the meeting, our Treasurer Peter Sharp presented his first financial report and accounts. Peter then outlined the proposal for an increase in subscriptions. While the OBA is not in any serious financial difficulty, the costs of running the Association (in particular the publication of our magazine twice a year) now exceed the income significantly. The increase is designed to ensure that we can continue operating for as long as we expect our thriving network to be maintained.

The subscription increase was proposed for 2011, and was accepted by the meeting. The only opposing views expressed were by some members who felt that the proposed increase (£1 per annum) was too low and suggested that the subscriptions should be raised by £2 per annum. In the end, however, the smaller increase was carried, and information about this has since been communicated to all members.

The meeting also agreed a number of changes to the OBA Constitution.  The latest version is available HERE.

All current committee members had agreed to continue in office, and there were no contenders for any of the positions.
